“7 Words” is the story of a man who spent 21 years behind bars fighting for his beliefs. Born between the two World Wars, later to become Father Gheorghe Calciu, he started as a medical student in Bucharest, Romania. His first arrest was in 1948 at the age of 23, guilty of loving his country and standing against the new communist regime. He was sent to Pitesti prison, then to the Gherla penitentiary, followed by “the tomb of death” in Jilava and the enticements of Aiud. His destiny was a series of descents into inferno, brave gestures of sacrifice and Taboric elevation. Over 30 people testify to the life of Father Gheorghe Calciu, in a lively art documentary rich in sensitivity, sad and terrifying memories and humor.
